Ride the Train to See Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Every weekend in Snoqualmie and North Bend you can take a magical ride that is sure to bring joy to your holiday traditions! The Santa Train boards at the North Bend Station and treks towards Snoqualmie on the historic route.  A short ride that includes singing, site seeing and restored train cars make this trip worthwhile.

The Santa Train runs from Nov 24 to Dec 16 and tickets are still available for select dates.  They have sold out ever year since 1995 and over 11,000 people will ride the Santa Train!  The Northwest Railway Museum runs the train and they do an incredible job with the production, feel, cheer, and organization.  The train is always on time so you want to plan accordingly.

What to do in Snoqualmie?

First and foremost…of course is to take a picture with Santa! The line moves quickly, but dress to stay warm as most of the line is outside.  Depending on our “Mountain & Valley Weather” pattern there could be some breezy, cold, or wet conditions.  Maybe you will get lucky and it will be a spectacular beautiful sunny day!  You have been warned!

When you are at the Snoqualmie Station you will have some time to grab some cookies, hot chocolate, or head across the street to visit some shops are grab a coffee.  Listed below are the shops/eateries within walking distance that could compliment your trip.  You probably won’t have time to hit more than one or two by the time you wait for Santa.  *Local pro tip* You could even head to the shops first and then back to the Santa line like we did on our visit.  We had plenty of time and got to stretch our legs to keep the little guy engaged.

Carousel Gift Shop

The Bindlestick Coffee shop

Snoqualmie Falls Candy Shoppe

Cafe Minee

Northwest Railway Museum

The railroad industry was critical to the growth of the Snoqualmie Valley (yes, probably every town in America could say that) and we are fortunate to have the Northwest Railway Museum promote the history and keep up the depots, trains, and historic aspects of this industry right here in the Upper Valley.  The Santa Train is a big part of their programs for the year but they have many other events, rides, and fun year round.  Maybe you have someone that wants to ride with Thomas the Train, or maybe you have the desire to take a wine train with amazing views of the falls, the Northwest Railway Museum has you covered.

What to do in North Bend?

At the North Bend station where you board and disembark after the ride back, there are plenty of things to complete your trip.  Shop, grab a bite, or get a tree at one of our many tree lots!  Here are some links to places you might want to visit during your trip:

Georgia’s Bakery Cafe

Birches Habitat Shop

Rio Bravo restaurant

The World Famous North Bend Bar and Grill

The Iron Duck Public House

Holiday Season in the Valley is…
